Overheard

Mac, referring to M*A*S*H,: "Do you know 'The Incubator' or 'Five O'Clock Charlie'?

Me: "No."

Me, realizing, actually, I did: ""'The Incubator' is about them needing an incubator for growing penicillin (penicillin? chicks? babies? I forget why). 'Five O'Clock Charlie' is about a rogue bomber who hits at 5pm every day.... ... ... I'm a little bit embarrassed about that."

Mac: "Huh. You are to M*A*S*H what I am to Friends."

I like the delayed "Did I just know that?" comment. Growing up, my dad would quiz (read: drill) me on aircraft and such to a point where I can now tell what they are by their sound, etc. It's embarassing, especially being a military wife on a military air base.

I'll be with a random group of people and an odd helicopter will go over.
Them: "What is that, it doesn't look like it belongs here"
Me: "Oh, that is a 46, it's a Marine helicopter. They bring it up here to do work on it at Nippi..."

And I've said to much. Everyone is staring like I'm a freak who is WAY too involved in my husband's job...

I'm this way with Seinfeld or the Simpsons. We watched M*A*S*H all the time as kids but I don't think I ever knew the names of the episodes.

Look at it this way, you could know all the episodes of The Facts of Life instead of M*A*S*H.

Jes - You're right. Dork-alert. Back when T was in flight school, he used to try to quiz me on aircraft flying overhead. As he has learned, 15 years later... the Stubborn One can't be taught.

Annie - Facts of Life! You're right! The horror.

Paige! Hi!

Nicole directed me to your blog a while back, I've just been too lazy to sign! Anyway, I just re-started one of my on, on blogger, which is so easy compared to D-land, no?

Anyway, I've caught up on heaps of your news. Glad you are sounding as happy and full of life as usual!

Drop by if you feel like it.

love, Valerie
