Brainchild ala Betty and Brenda

While I was blissfully idling the afternoon away, playing at the pool with Mackenzie, a Category 5 Brainstorm was occurring in yesterday's comments section. A sprout of an idea took shape and before I knew it, I was volunteered as Managing Director of Idea Collection and Entertainment Implementation (I created the title myself as Bitch-To Girl and Phone-Answering Goddess leave me lacking in Self-Esteem) (Though that "Goddess" one is fun.).

Betty & Brenda have me a little confused as of yet because every time I read their exchange, I crack up laughing and forget what the whole point is (HI! My name's Paige and I'm Easily Distracted!)

We have a few suggestions:

1) a shared postcard - add a thought and pass it on...

2) add another postcard to an envelope and pass it on...
Suggestion from Brenda: "Homemade postcards, store bought postcards from where you live, fabric quilted postcards, pictures of your family, pets..etc, on a postcard... and of course, a description or how the card was produced, or a funny story."
3) Or, I could buy a blank journal and each person that gets it leaves their mark on a page - writing, art, photo... and then pass it to the next, return to me, I'll make copies of each page (maybe scan it) and reproduce the book for everyone who participated at the end.

Ideas! Good or Bad, we need them! Please leave us a note below...

Also, if you'd like to participate when we get a plan, email me your address to cartwheels at mac dot com. Or click on that link over there on the right that says: "Email Me". Duh.

I can't think of any great ideas of my own at the moment.. but I like both of those.

I like the blank journal. Count me in. Bec.

I'm liking the blank journal idea, that way, we can add a postcard or drawing or funny story, or STICKERS! or a smudge of chocolate! ohhhh... the possibilites of pages are endless! and then mail it to the next in line. (please excuse the exclamation marks and run on sentence. My excitement takes over and I just forget any english lesson I ever had)

Who doesn't like getting something in the mail - bills excluded.

I'm so glad you are going to be the Managing Director of Idea Collection and Entertainment Implementation because I was so scared after reading the comments that I was going to be stuck being the MDoICaI. I like the blank journal idea as well. We could even each photograph our pages and post them on our sites. It'll be kinda like a Flat Stanley for grown ups.

Oh My Gosh, you not only have your own title, you also have your own acronym! Too funny!

I'm sure I could conjure up something fun from Japan (hehehe) - but you better hurry and do it before October!

Don't think I didn't consider you, Annie! You are the most organized person I know. But I was dazzled by the title. I also like the idea of each of us taking a photo of our page before we send it on. Just in case, you know.

We also have a new-reader-friend from Sasebo, Carolie, who's going to join us. (I know! How funny is that!) (Non-Navy-Girls: Sasebo is another base in Japan.)

Ok, REALLY! I have to go to work. I'm supposed to be there in 8 minutes.

I'm a new reader, but can I join anyway? I'm not a Navy wife either! ;-)

Yes... take a photo of the page you are sending... good idea. Other idea - when sending to next person, you must include the front of the envelope you received the journal in. You know, the postage, your address and the return address...just the front of the envelope. Fold it and include it with your page. I know this is going to cause for a fat journal, but the stamp cancelation will also mark the date it is sent. Like a validation.(or at least take a photo of the envelope/box...ya never know how big this will get)

Next thought. You can not send it back to the person who sent it to you. When a new person joins or is added, and we hope there will be a lot of them, it goes to that person next.

Guess we might need to right a 'rules of the journal' page to put in the front. :-)

Great acronym.... how do you pronounce it?

Love Flat Stanley!

Back before the holidays started, I thought of doing some sort of Holiday Buddy, or Blog Buddy thing. Kind of like the Secret Santa. The only issue that came up was this. Do people want to be giving their addresses out?

That's what people got nervous about on my end.

Brenda said...

If anyone wants to come hunt me down, because they have my address, I say...'COME AND GET IT!' YA... I'm not scared of you! Yes, we hear about the perverts who randomly hunt people down, but this isn't MYSPACE.COM... althought I do have a myspace account...have to keep track of my kids, ya know. Lots of folks have PO Boxes, just for said safety reasons. I can always use my work PO Box #. I get the mail anyway.

For the most part... People are good.

Yeah, if someone is going to try and come get me in Japan - God help them.

OH, Man! Where's my comment? Gah!

ok - trying again...

Paige - OF COURSE you can join us! Making new friends is fun!

John - Really, I just have to believe that everything will be ok. I'm a glass-half-full kinda girl.

Also, I'm thinking that to ease some fears, I will design an Ultimate Mailing Matrix that will assign each person only one address to mail to. That way, each person only has one address. I'll have them all, but you all know I'm too lazy to stalk. Hell, I barely put any energy into Parenting...

There was something else.....

OH! The Rules! And damnit! I had thought of a few good ones ... No mixing of plaids while writing in the journal.. Thou shalt not drink Mad Dog 20/20 whilst drawing in the journal.... Barry Manilow shall not be played while in the vicinity of the Journal. (Sorry Fanilows!)

I think that's it. Cross your fingers.

Yay! I'm really excited (and a little wide-eyed at the all the jumping-up-and-down-and-frothing-at-the-mouth that's happening here...) And I agree with Jess. Y'all can have my FPO address. I DARE you to try and find me in a "small" Japanese town of 300,000 that doesn't believe in street names! :)

Oh...sorry...wordmagix is me, Carolie, the chick in Sasebo.

Fanilows - hehehe!

How about Country music? Can I listen to Sara Evans while I write? But you can't stop me from mixing plaids with stripes. There is no stopping me! Muaahhahahah!

Paige said...

HA! I know you better than that. You would never mix plaids with stripes...

But you would mix platform boots with short-shorts! Good for you, that's not against the rules.
