He Makes Me Laugh

Because it has a picture of pandas on the front of it (really, who doesn't love pandas), Dillon picked up my copy of "Eats, Shoots & Leaves" to check out what amazing panda adventure was tucked between the covers. He was sorely disappointed and more than a little bit indignant when he saw it was a book about punctuation:

"Who does that? Writes a book about punctuation and then puts pandas on the cover to entice unsuspecting animal-lovers to pick it up expecting a story about pandas?..... For that matter, who writes a book about punctuation?!...."

Then he thought about it a second longer and looked right at me, the disgust visible on his face, "Who reads a book about punctuation?! God!"

And he wandered off, lamenting the publisher who seduced him with a panda, but disillusioned him with commas.

I loved this book. What kind of person is personally insulted by a book about punctuation? He cracks me up. I'm so tempted to send him everything I can find with pandas on it.

Misplaced teenage angst. Love it.

I have never read that book (who am I kidding, I have read about 4 books in 3 years, not good odds), but honestly, I had never heard of it before Annie's blog.

What is the storyline - I had no idea it was about punctuation...

Loser here.. I read that book and liked it.
Some weirdos enjoy grammar and punctuation. :)

Jes~ You have not heard of it because you love in a literary "no fly zone". I was so excited to get back to the land of Barnes & Noble and Borders that I spent, literally, hundreds of dollars on books when I moved back to the US. So much so that it's been 2 years - I still haven't read them all. Yet, that hasn't kept me from continually buying more new books! (Mostly, it's a British woman's humorous take on the sad state of punctuation today.

Nerd, yup!

Weirdo, yup!

My hubs had a similar reaction when he saw the book on my nightstand.

Hah! That book is great! But I know a lot of people who would react in just that same way as Dillon. Of course those same people always come knocking on my door to proof read reports, papers, etc. =)

BTW, HI! I'm a long time lurker who thinks your blog is great!

Thanks for the de-lurking and the compliment. I LOVE de-lurking and compliments!

*I'm sorry, but thanks to my niece, Isabella, I can't help but add "the Explorah" to the end of that in my head. I'm easily distracted.

OF COURSE I love that book! I even bought it for my Mom a couple years ago for Mother's Day! She said it was the best book ever and then recommended it to M-I-L.

Just spreading the proper-grammar love!

But M-I-L already had it! Yes, I'm as anal as Brooke about that shit, to quote Betty ;-D
